Lip Lift

What is Lip Lift Surgery?

Lip lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to elevate and reshape the upper lip. This surgical technique shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, creating a fuller, more youthful appearance. The procedure is particularly effective for individuals who feel their upper lip is too thin, too long, or lacks volume.

Benefits of Lip Lift Surgery:

  • Enhanced Lip Volume: Achieve a fuller, more defined upper lip without the need for fillers.
  • Youthful Appearance: A lifted lip can rejuvenate your overall facial appearance, making you look more vibrant and youthful.
  • Improved Smile: A more prominent upper lip can enhance your smile, boosting your confidence.
  • Permanent Results: Unlike temporary fillers, lip lift surgery provides long-lasting results.
  • Increased Tooth Display: A lip lift can reveal more of your teeth when you smile, one of the few ways to achieve this effect without resorting to expensive dental procedures like veneers.

Common Questions about Lip Lift Surgery:

Am I a good candidate for lip lift surgery?

Ideal candidates are individuals who are in good health, have realistic expectations, and are looking to enhance the appearance of their upper lip. A consultation with our surgeons will help determine if this procedure is right for you.

How long do the results last?

Lip lift surgery provides permanent results. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, the natural aging process will continue to affect your appearance over time.

How much does lip lift surgery cost?

The cost of lip lift surgery varies depending on the specific technique used and individual patient needs. During your consultation, we will provide a detailed estimate based on your personalized treatment plan.

Lip Reduction

Overly large lips can be corrected with a lip reduction. The procedure is done under local or general anesthesia and takes 30 minutes to an hour. An incision the length of the lip is placed on the inside of the mouth and excess tissue is removed. In some cases, it is necessary to place the incision at the border of the lip.

Benefits of lip reduction:

There is minimal downtime associated with this procedure.

Common questions about lip reduction:

What are the potential side effects?

Swelling, tingling, and moderate pain are common but subside in approximately 1-2 weeks. Infections can occur but with proper post-operative care are unlikely to occur.

Lip Implant

For those patients seeking a more permanent choice in lip augmentation, Advanta lip implant may be the answer.

The many benefits of the Advanta Implant include:

  • The procedure only takes around an hour using a local anesthetic.
  • Advanta is made of an inert material, so allergy is not a concern (approximately 5% of the population is allergic to bovine collagen.)
  • Advanta comes in many sizes, and more can be added later if further correction is desired. Conversely, the implants can be removed, if desired.
  • Studies have shown up to 95% patient satisfaction.
  • It’s a permanent alternative to collagen, Alloderm, Cymetra, Restylane, and Cosmoderm.
  • It is a very effective approach for lip augmentation.
  • In some cases, Advanta can be used to treat scars.
  • Most importantly, Advanta is soft, natural and permanent.

Thin, flat lips:

Here, the lips are thin and have no fullness or definition. Often, the upper lip is a straight line with no cupid’s bow. Thin lips are usually the result of your genes, but smoking can be a contributing factor. As people get older, lip tissue tends to break down and the lips become thinner, which is one reason we think of fuller lips as being younger lips.

No upper lip:

In this case, the upper lip is significantly thinner than the lower lip. A small upper lip may be also the remainder of a cleft lip that was corrected in childhood. Augmentation can be done on the upper lip alone. There is also a surgical procedure called a lip lift that can be done alone or combined with augmentation to create a fuller upper lip.

No bottom lip:

Occasionally, the lower lip is significantly thinner than the upper lip, but it is rare. Augmentation of the lower lip can correct this and produce natural-looking results.

Common questions about lip augmentation:

What takes place during the procedure?

This lip augmentation procedure is performed under local anesthesia, with or without light sedation, on an outpatient basis. The implants are inserted through tiny incisions using a small needle. The procedure can last from 35 to 60 minutes on average.

How long is recovery and what are the possible side effects?

You will experience swelling, some general discomfort, tightness and possibly bruising for one or two weeks. It is possible that the implant may be felt through the lips. Again, healing and recovery are dependent upon patient health and correct follow-through on post-operative care following the surgery. Complications during this procedure are very rare, especially when performed by a qualified facial surgeon.
