IPL/Photo Rejuvenation

PhotoRejuvenation using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive procedure that treats sun-damage without disruption of the skin’s surface, so there is no downtime. Photo Rejuvenation can treat a wide range of skin problems, safely and effectively, including broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots, sun-damage, mottled pigmentation, poikiloderma and the redness and flushing of rosacea. PhotoRejuvenation stimulates new collagen production to improve skin texture, increase skin smoothness and reduce pore size. This exciting procedure can be used on the face, neck, chest, and hands.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

PhotoFacial Rejuvenation using Intense Pulsed Light can improve a variety of benign skin conditions such as redness, flushing, brown spots, sun damage, large pores, and rosacea. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing impressive results with no downtime. This procedure can also be used effectively on the face, neck, chest, arms, shoulders, upper back, and hands.

  • Avoid actively tanning prior to and during your IPL and exfoliation sessions. It is absolutely necessary that the area to be treated is protected with a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. You must not have a tan at the time of treatment
  • Avoid applying sunless tanning products for a week prior to treatment. If used, please exfoliate 1 week prior to IPL treatment.
  • If you have facial hair, please shave the morning of your treatment.
  • Retin-A, Renova, Hydroquinone and other OTC retinols must be stopped 5-7 days prior to IPL and exfoliation treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be started prior to IPL. It is important to let us know if you have ever had a cold sore. You will start antiviral therapy 2 days prior to treatment and complete therapy 2 days post-treatment. Total of 5 days of therapy.
  • If swelling occurs, it usually subsides in a few hours and you may apply makeup immediately.
  • Brown spots will lift up to the surface and may get darker. Don’t pick! They will slough off in approximately 10-14 days and with the help of your follow up exfoliation treatment.
  • Rarely, some crusting, blistering or bruising may be seen. When this occurs, it tends to heal in 3-7 days. These side effects are uncommon, as this is a “no downtime” treatment.
  • Continue on with your skincare and makeup regimen as recommended by your Medical Aesthetician.
